When it comes to keeping our bodies healthy, we often focus on our fitness, our weight and the recommendations of our doctor but all too often we forget to manage the health of our largest organ the skin. Dry skin can result from a variety of reasons from climate change to dietary deficiencies. Not only is dry skin uncomfortable, but it may also be the catalyst for blemishes, acne flair ups or other skin abnormalities.

Flax Seeds should become a staple
Flaxseed has become very popular as a natural remedy for a variety of ailments, especially when it comes to skin. It is known to contain anti-inflammatory properties which have been connected to a decrease in acne flair ups. Additionally flaxseed has been used for psoriasis and eczema treatment.

Eat Cucumber
Skin care and cucumber are two elements that go together seamlessly. Most often, however, we picture facials and other outward skin procedures utilizing this veggie. Believe it or not, actually eating cucumbers can also improve the overall health of your skin.

Eat Your Fiber
While you might not think of skin health when you think of fiber, it can play a large role in skin health and maintenance in addition to skin hydration. While fiber functions in flushing toxins from the body and is important for skin health, fiber shouldn’t be loaded up on in an overabundance since it can actually have a negative impact on skin health in excess.

Incorporate Vitamin B12
While it’s not something you hear of too frequently, vitamin B12 plays a vital role in life’s daily functions. Lack of Vitamin B12 (also referred to as Cobalamin) is often tied to dry, flaky skin, wrinkles and acne. This vitamin is water soluble and is also believed to improve overall nervous system health, red blood cell repair and regrowth and many other health boosting roles.
